Clearwater, whose beaches were once listed in USA Today’s"Ten Best Beaches from Maine to Hawaii" list, has many tranquil neighborhoods and a great sense of community, which they show by putting on festivals and events for residents and visitors.
Housing
When it comes to housing in the city of Clearwater, there is something to suit nearly any taste and lifestyle from quaint cottages to executive estates. There are many modest single family homes as well as extravagant ones. There are also many apartments, townhomes and condominiums with a wide range of styles and price levels. Properties may over look the Gulf of Mexico, be on the beach or be on a beautiful golf course.It is important to point out that Pinellas County also won the “Successful Community Award” in 2002 for its extensive programs for improving housing, expanding recreational opportunities and protecting the environment in all of its cities, including Clearwater.
Things To Do
Aside from Clearwater’s main beach, there are also the local islands of Caladesi and Sand Key have each been called two of the "Best Natural Beaches in the United States".
Another popular attraction Clearwater is known for is Pier 60 which often features festivals, concerts and events as well as "Sunsets at Pier 60", a nightly festival that celebrates the spectacular Gulf of Mexico sunsets. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is also a popular attraction.
Golf courses and country clubs include the private Countryside Country Club,Bellaire Country Club, Feathersound Golf and Country Club and the public Cove Cay Golf Club, Clearwater Country Club, Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Course and Clearwater Executive Golf Course.
Indoor entertainment includes Ruth Eckerd Hall, which hosts a variety of theater performances and musical acts, The Early Bird Dinner Theater, Countryside AMC movie theater and the Clearwater Cinema Cafe which features a full menu and serves alcoholic beverages.
There are many annual festivals in Clearwater including the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, the Fun 'N Sun Festival, Stone Crab Festival and the Taste of Clearwater.
Dining and Shopping
Being on the beach, there is of course no shortage of seafood restaurants in Clearwater, including Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill, The Lobster Pot, Jimmy’s Fish House and Iguana Bar and the Salt Rock Grill. Other restaruants include Pete & Shorty’s, Clearwater Wine Bar & Bistro, Kiku Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar, Rusty’s Bistro and Greektown Grille.
While there are plenty of surf shops, specialty shops and spas near the beaches there is also the Westfield Countryside Mall for more mainstream and department stores.
Traffic and Driving
While there are no major interstates running through or just outside Clearwater, it is in close proximity to US-19 which runs north to nearby Dunedin and south to St. Petersburg. The Courtney Campbell Causeway is easily accessible in Clearwater and runs across the bay into Tampa.

Public schools include Bellaire Elementary, Ponce de Leon Elementary, Clearwater Fundamental Middle School, Oak Grove Middle School , Bayside High School and Clearwater High School, Clearwater Academy International, Patris Private School of Pinellas County, Depaul School For Dyslexia Inc., North Ward School and St. Cecelia’s Parochial School. Colleges and universities include Clearwater Christian College and Ultimate Medical Academy.

Commerce is generated mostly from tourism, hospitality, manufacturing, health care and residential and commercial construction and renovations. Clearwater is also home to several corporations main headquarters offices.
